Speakers
Patricia Akins is a registered nurse with a master’s degree in nursing education from Northwestern State University in Louisiana. She has taught pathophysiology to nursing students for over 30 years using a variety of methods. She has worked in and taught critical care and medical surgical nursing since 1981. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and was chosen as Educator of the Year at NSU in 2019. She has made numerous presentations on pathophysiology, pharmacology, and critical care nursing. She lives in Shreveport, Louisiana and continues to teach in the clinical setting.
